The Illawarra Early Parenting Centre is a child and family health service providing support to families with children aged between 28 days to two years old. Part of Figtree Private Hospital, the service is the first of its kind in the Illawarra, offering the convenience of an accessible inpatient support program, close to home.
Depending on individual needs, families may be offered assistance through admission to the hospital’s intensive inpatient program - designed to improve family health and wellbeing. The unit provides personalised assistance for a range of needs including:
- Feeding difficulties
- Infant sleep disorders
- Irritability
- Reflux and colic
- Maternal exhaustion
- Maternal anxiety
- Adjusting to parenting
The service is delivered in a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment featuring renovated patient accommodation and play areas for your child.
Families are guided by an experienced, multi-disciplinary team including:
- Experienced nurses with qualifications in Midwifery, Psychiatry and Counselling
- Lactation consultants
- Maternal child health nurses
- Mothercraft nurses
- Clinical Psychologists
- Paediatricians
- Psychiatrists
- Social workers
- GPs
Together our qualified staff provide an integrated treatment approach, working in partnership with families to develop a sustainable, individualised action plan addressing specific concerns. Our personalised care is coupled with group education, helping to strengthen confidence and empower caregivers in their parenting journey.
The Illawarra Early Parenting Centre is a family inclusive unit and partners are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the program.
