  • Bariatric/ obesity surgery – e.g., gastric banding, gastric sleeve.
  • Cardiology - general and interventional – e.g., E.C.G’s, coronary angiograms, cardioversion, transoesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Colorectal surgery – e.g., for colon, bowel and rectal cancer such as colectomy, anterior resection and hemicolectomy. Anal fistula repair.
  • Dermatology – e.g., removal of skin cancers.
  • Endocrinology – e.g., pancreatitis, stabilisation of diabetes, management of thyroid related problems.
  • Ears Nose and Throat (ENT) – e.g., septoplasty, nasendoscopy, laryngoscopy, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, treatment for inflamed sinus and polyps of the nose and sinuses, insertion of grommets (to drain the middle ear), procedures to alleviate sleep apnoea, removal of exostosis, repair of perforated ear drum,.
  • Gastroenterology – e.g., colonoscopy, gastroscopy, removal of haemorrhoids, removal of polyps. Management of chronic bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diverticulosis.
  • General surgery – e.g., hernia repair, removal of gall bladder or gallstones, removal of foreign bodies from skin, mastectomy, excision of breast lump.
  • Geriatric – e.g., aged care assessment and management.
  • Gynaecology - e.g., vaginal repair, hysterectomy, sling procedure to assist with incontinence, repair of prolapse of vagina, dilation and curettage (D&C).
  • Head and neck surgery – e.g., thyroidectomy, excision of salivary glands.
  • Medical oncology – post cancer treatment management and care, pain management.
  • Neonatology and paediatrics – care of the newborn baby.
  • Neurology – e.g., medical management of epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons Disease or stroke.
  • Neurosurgery - e.g., back surgery such as spinal fusion, discectomy. Head surgery such as removal of brain tumours. Decompression of spinal nerves for pain relief, release of nerves such as carpal tunnel.
  • Obstetrics – care of the pregnant woman before and after childbirth including caesarean sections, antenatal care.
  • Ophthalmology – e.g., removal of cataract, correction of squint, removal of pterygium.
  • Oral and maxillofacial surgery - e.g., dentofacial discrepancies such as small jaw (hypoplasia), maxillary and mandibular osteotomies, treatment of fractured jaw.
  • Oral Surgery – e.g., removal of teeth, dental implants, excision of lesions of the mouth and dental lesions.
  • Orthopaedics – e.g., repair of rotator cuffs of shoulder, replacement of ankle hip knee or shoulder joint, repair of broken bones, reduction and fixation of fractures, repair of anterior cruciate ligament.
  • Palliative care – ensuring the comfort of the patient through symptom control and pain management, and support of the family at the end of life.
  • Haematology – e.g., treatment for anaemia, myelodysplasia, blood cancer and other blood disorder. Blood transfusions.
  • Rheumatology  - e.g., Aredia infusion, management of rheumatoid arthritis and other associated immune disorders, joint injections for pain management.
  • Sleep disorders  - e.g., sleep studies to diagnose and manage obstructed airways, sleep apnoea, snoring, restless sleep in children. Polysomnograms,
  • Plastic surgery – e.g., reconstruction of breast, repair of scars, breast implants, breast reduction, eyelid repair, blepharoplasty.
