Operating Theatres

An extensive range of surgical services is offered. We have 6 spacious and fully equipped operating theatres with the latest medical and surgical technology. We have highly trained staff that provide ongoing care intra and post operatively. Figtree Private Hospital’s skilled operating theatre staff work as a team to secure a successful outcome for our patients.

Angiography Suite

The Angiography Suite provides diagnostic and interventional endovascular procedures for patients of the Illawarra and South Coast. These procedures include angiograms, balloon angioplasty and stents to the peripheral vascular system, endograft repair of aortic aneurysms and radiofrequency ablation of varicose veins.

Surgical ward (Keira)

Located in the north western end of the Hospital, the Surgical ward (Keira), provides expert care for patients pre and post surgery. There are 38 beds all with ensuites, televisions and bedside phones.

Educational sessions are provided to patients who are undergoing certain types of surgery, such as joint replacement surgery and colorectal surgery. Our experienced staff will provide you with the information required and care that is needed to get you back on the road to recovery following surgery.

Medical ward (Kembla)

Located in the middle of the Hospital, the Medical ward (Kembla), provides expert care for non-surgical patients. There are 26 beds all with ensuites, televisions and bedside phones.

Kembla ward specialises in palliative care. We pride ourselves on ensuring that all of our palliative patients die with dignity and comfort.

Maternity/ Surgical ward (Nareena)

Located at the north eastern end of the Hospital, the Maternity/ Surgical ward (Nareena), provides expert care for expectant families (please see our Maternity pages) as well as patients pre and post surgery. There are 22 beds all with ensuites, televisions and bedside phones.

Sleep Studies

The Illawarra Sleep Disorders Service has been servicing the Illawarra region for over 17 years. We provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment of all sleep disorders in both children and adults. The unit at Figtree Private Hospital is run under the supervision of Professor Graham Hart and Dr Terry Sands.

An overnight sleep study or polysomnograph entails an overnight stay in our sleep unit. Each patient has a single room where you will be monitored for blood oxygen levels, breathing, sleep stages, snoring and other signs during sleep. The sleep study will be monitored by a fully trained and experienced Sleep Technologist (Registered Nurse).

You will be required to be at the hospital by 7.00pm and you will be discharged at 6.30am.

Bookings for sleep studies can only be made after a consultation with one of the Specialist Sleep Physicians (referral from your General Practitioner is required).

Normal Pre-admission procedures apply.

South Coast Urology

South Coast Urology consists of six Urologists - Dr Hunter Watt, Dr Timothy Skyring, Dr Paul Kovac, Dr Peter Chin, Dr Rahul Rindani and introducing Dr Liz Dally. We offer a full range of urological procedures and operations, for the treatment of renal stones, anti-incontinence surgery and paediatric urology for both males and females of all ages, using the latest techniques and state of the art equipment. We have been recognised as pioneers in laparoscopic surgery and cancer treatment. We also offer a wide range of day only procedures performed under local or general anaesthetic such as vasectomies and endoscopic surgery.
