FIGTREE PRIVATE A FINALIST IN THE BAXTER AWARDS 2011
Figtree Private Hospital recently forwarded a submission to the 2011 Australian Private Healthcare Association (APHA)/ Baxter Awards for Clinical Excellence. It was announced today (20 September) that Figtree Private Hospital’s SAFE Program is a finalist in the 2011 APHA/ Baxter Awards for Quality and Excellence in the Clinical Excellence category.

This is a fantastic achievement and highlights the clinical significance of the SAFE Program to the delivery of excellent patient care.

A presentation will be given by Figtree Private at the APHA National Congress gala Dinner on Monday 17 October in Sydney.

As you may be aware, Australian men are notoriously reluctant to be pro-active about their own health.  In 2010 a group of Illawarra men and women decided to do something to change this.  Called Healthier Illawarra Men (HIM), the group includes business and community leaders, leading Illawarra medical practitioners and university representatives. more >>

Through Private Hospitals Week, private hospitals across the country are showcasing the diversity of the health services they provide to Australians.

Free Seminars run throughout the year by Dr Ulvi Budak (FRACS) on the LAP-BAND® System. Dr Budak will discuss this method for those people who are at least 30kg overweight and are considering surgery to lose weight and improve their obesity-related health problems. The seminars are held at Figtree Private Hospital. Figtree Private Hospital has launched a program to recognise and act on clinically deteriorating patients
The SAFE (System Assessment for Escalation) Program is a response system for the early recognition of the deteriorating patient which empowers clinical nurses at the bedside and places value on the input of the patient's family or next of kin.

With much anticipation from staff the STARS 5 Steps of Sensational Customer Service Program was launched 12 August 2010 at Figtree Private Hospital. This was a strategy to address some of the concerns regarding recognition of our staff, as raised in the Staff Satisfaction Survey. An incredible 176 staff were trained over the course of an extremelyy positve, energetic and inspiring day. more >>

David Crowe has been appointed to the position of CEO at Figtree Private Hospital. David has worked at Figtree for 14 years and most recently as the Director of Clinical Services for thelast five and half years. During his time at Figtree, David has developed a strong relationship with all the staff and doctors and has been an integral part of the success which Figtree has achieved over the last three years. David has a strong clinical and theoretical background completing undergraduate nurse training in 1994 and a Masters of Business Administration in 2003.

Peter FitzSimons was our guest speaker at the Figtree Private Hospital AGM of the Medical Council on 17 June 2009.  Mr FitzSimons is a well respected columnist for The Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald, television presenter on Fox Sports, speaks four languages, has played rugby for Australia, co-hosted radio shows with Mike Carlton and Doug Mulray, interviewed famous people around the globe from George Bush to Diego Maradona and written eighteen best-selling books. Mr FitzSimons gave a very entertaining speech detailing his life achievements and provided an account from some of his books.
