Maternity: Preparation for Childbirth and Parenthood Workshop

Preparation for Childbirth and Parenthood Workshop

Figtree Private Hospital offers women and their partners a comprehensive childbirth and parenting workshop to prepare parents for the birth of their child.  We realise how important it is for you to be informed regarding what you may experience during your labour and birth and our aim is to assist couples to make informed choices regarding birth and parenting options.

Our workshop addresses important aspects of your pregnancy and birth over a one day period held on Saturdays throughout the year commencing at 8.30 am and concluding at 4.00 pm.  Sessions are conducted by a Registered Midwife and include a tour of the Birthing Suite and Maternity Unit.  Refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

This workshop covers such topics as the signs of labour, the stages of labour, active birth, various options for pain relief, the role of your partner or support person, characteristics of the newborn and much more.

Partners are very welcome and are encouraged to attend.

It is advisable for you and your partner to book into these workshops as early as possible as numbers are limited. We recommend you attend the workshop between 28 – 36 weeks of pregnancy.

The cost of the workshop is $200 and payment can be made at the front reception of the hospital or over the phone at the time of booking.  (Please note however, that once payment has been made, refunds may only be given for medical reasons.)

All classes are held in the Education Room on Level 1 of the Hospital at 1 Suttor Place, Figtree.

If you would like to book a workshop or would like more information on these sessions, please call (02) 4255 5070 Monday – Friday during business hours.
