Staff development

Staff development is structured to meet the diverse training needs of all of our staff. This facilitates professional growth and ensures a standard of excellence in service provision and patient care. We aim to support all staff in the workforce with a dynamic approach to maintaining and furthering their professional goals and objectives. The Hospital’s education program is closely aligned with its strategic planning. Identified areas of need are strongly supported with education and training for interested staff members.

As part of the Ramsay Health Care group of Hospitals, our staff have additional opportunities for career experience/ advancement across the large group of over 100 facilities located across Australia, the UK, Indonesia and France.

Internal Training and Development

Figtree Private Hospital offers an internal education program which covers clinical, administrative and management skills. There are mandatory sessions delivered online and onsite which all staff are required to complete on an annual basis. Online sessions are run by the Ramsay Training Institute (RTI). These programs are delivered to a nationally recognised certificate IV level.

Hospital Orientation

At the commencement of employment, all staff are required to complete an on line Orientation Program. In addition to the Hospital orientation all staff are provided with comprehensive orientation to the department in which they are employed.

External Education Assistance

We support staff in attending externally run courses and programs.  This includes short courses, seminars/ workshops, higher education at TAFE/ Universities or conferences. Staff wishing to apply for support for such programs are required to submit an application to the Director of Clinical Services for approval.

Traineeship and Apprenticeship opportunities

We support our staff to complete traineeships/ apprenticeships in a variety of roles including nursing, technicians, hotel services and administration. Figtree Private Hospital has commenced the employment of school based Trainees in Certificate III Health Services Assistance. The Trainee Assistant in Nursing is supported by Figtree Private Hospital in conjunction with TAFE and the Department of Education and Community in the provision of a structured clinical program for the HSC student.
